After four decades, Hot Tuna is still the premier interpreter of American blues and roots music.
Formed by Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady while they were still lead guitarist and bassist of the Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna began as an acoustic band, morphed into loud electric music, then acoustic again, and now a more refined electric sound that's satisfying to new fans as well as Tuna followers from decades ago.
Joining Jorma and Jack in today's electric Hot Tuna are mandolin virtuoso Barry Mitterhoff and phenomenal young percussionist Erik Diaz.
Blues luminary John Hammond will kick off the evening with his distinctly soulful voice and stellar guitar and harp skills. Best known for personalized renderings of traditional blues numbers, Hammond's recent G Love-produced CD Push Comes to Shove rocks harder and pushes the boundaries of his signature style with a sampling of self-penned tunes while staying true to his roots.
